Aurum

Aurum calls back to the ancient practice of alchemy and the desire to create gold from base metals. These pieces play on the fact that in glass, metals like iron, tin or cobalt are combined with the raw glass to produce a multitude of vibrant colours. The outside of the pieces are then gilded over a battutoed surface with gold leaf to evoke the look of hammered or planished metal. The vial-like shapes gesture to the assortment of vessels that alchemists used in pursuit of their impossible science. Each piece entwines the base with the precious in alchemical beauty.
